Opening Theme Music:
[bass guitar riff]

Garett Brown:
Welcome to Life North of the 54th. I'm Garett Brown.

Preston Brown:
And I'm Preston Brown. And we're pretty grateful to have you here, joining us on our little show.

Janie Myers:
For Life North of the 54th, my name is Janie Myers.

Jeannie MacKinnon:
Thank you for asking me, and here I am Jeannie MacKinnon.

Jim Brown:
Let Pam introduce herself first.

Pam Brown:
(laughs) I haven't been here as long as Jim's been here.

Ron Brown:
I'm Ronald Brown. I'm Garett and Preston's dad.

Preston Brown:
Today we're welcome to have Jessie Meservy with us.

Jessie Meservy:
Thanks for having me on, guys.

Janie Myers:
I spent 27 years in Northern BC and Alberta, so that's why we're talking about Life North of the 54th.

Garett Brown:
So, Grandma, he did tell me that you had thought about writing a book called Life North of the 54th.

Jeannie MacKinnon:
I started off in Montreal 82 years ago.

Preston Brown:
And I got a question Grandma. What led you and Gerry to move west to Alberta from Montreal?

Pam Brown:
You don't have to go far to see the Northern lights.

Jessie Meservy:
You can have pink and purple and green and they dance and they will dance across the whole sky. It's unreal.

Jim Brown:
The Northern lights were so bright, you could almost see your shadow.

Ron Brown:
Maybe you can tell me some of the stories that I don't know (laughs).

Jim Brown:
It's been a lifetime of meeting people and associating with them and friendships and sacrifices and other things. And it's just like a family. You grow closer the more you work with and sacrifice for each other. And it just becomes a piece of you. And that's what the Peace has become for us.

Preston Brown:
Thank you so much for your time, Grandma.

Janie Myers:
You're welcome. Love you guys.

Jeannie MacKinnon:
Fun seeing you guys. Thanks for thinking of me.

Garett Brown:
No worries. We love you, Grandma.

Garett Brown:
Hopefully we'll see you soon.

Jim Brown:
You bet.

Pam Brown:
Yeah. It'd be great.

Ron Brown:
It's been my pleasure.

Jessie Meservy:
You're welcome.

Garett Brown:
We'll see you around.

Jessie Meservy:
You bet. Have a great night.
